Prepayment and Product Comparison Calculators for a Live Wealth Platform

A web platform that provides flexible investment functionality and allows for better and more optimal management of personal funds, to boost a user's financial security and well-being. The service is aimed at minimising fees and optimising processes to keep costs low for users. We were brought in to add features to it, including a prepayment penalty calculator and a product comparison calculator.

We built two calculators as configurable, self-contained components that drop into an existing investment platform without disrupting its brand identity or its logic.

Prepayment Penalty Calculator

Built a calculator that lets users understand the cost of paying early, with the business logic held inside the component.

Product Comparison Calculator

Built a calculator for comparing products side by side, so users can judge options against each other before committing.

Challenges Identified

Automating a Bureaucracy-Heavy Domain

Investments and wealth management are complex, nuanced, and bureaucracy-heavy. Automating the investment-related processes while keeping the workflow intuitive was the hardest problem our developers faced.

Simple Interfaces Over Robust Logic

The calculators needed straightforward, attractive interfaces sitting on top of substantial logic. Tight cooperation between designers, software engineers, and business analysts is what made that possible.

Fitting an Existing Platform

Both calculators had to sit inside a product we did not build, matching its brand identity and merging with the surrounding functionality rather than reading as bolted-on additions.
